The cardiorespiratory system changes profoundly in the months before childbirth, resulting in underdeveloped lung functionality in many preterm infants. Despite advances in treatment, respiratory failure remains a primary cause of disease and mortality in newborns. One hurdle toward improved respiratory care is a lack of diagnostic systems suitable for neonates.
VoluSense has developed FloRight™, a device to non-invasively measure tidal volume, tidal flow and thoraco-abdominal asynchrony in neonates. The device measures volume changes in a wrap-around vest worn by the patient. The system is easy to use, mask free and well tolerated.
FloRight has been tested in clinical trials and approved for sales in Europe (CE), but is not yet available for clinical use. More information will follow before mid 2012. Clinicians interested in trial use or preorders are welcome to contact us.
